Hunting is a time-honored tradition in Maine and for good reason – the state, and most especially the Kennebec and Moose River Valleys, has an abundance of game, vast stretches of rural country, extensive wildlands, and a rich sporting heritage that dates back centuries. Whether you're interested in upland birds or big game like moose, deer and bear, our region offers so many opportunities. Come and Explore.

Our area’s wildlife offers opportunities for every outdoor enthusiast from moose and black bear, to bobcats and white-tailed deer. With a growing population of over 25,000 black bears, Maine has the highest black bear density and population in the East. Deer and moose populations are likewise big and healthy.

Our many lakes are abundant with numerous varieties of waterfowl and the restoration of wild turkey to our area has been a phenomenal success as turkeys continue to multiply.

Sporting camps, spread throughout the region have been hosting hunters for generations. Many employ Registered Maine Guides – world renowned outdoor experts – and they know where to find the wildlife. Trophy animals continue to be taken all over the state by both bow and rifle. How about a 900-pound cow moose? A 27-pound turkey? Or a 680-pound bear? These are just a few of the records that have been broken in the past decade.
