Purpose:
The Kennebec Valley Tourism Council (KVTC) has established a program to support local tourism promotional initiatives that will enhance the potential of making the KVTC region a destination.
Eligible Groups:
Eligible organizations include Chambers of Commerce; non-profit tourism facilities; boards of trade; and other non-profits that engage in the business of tourism or tourism attraction. Organizations that apply for the program must be a member of the Kennebec Valley Tourism Council.
Program Guidelines:
1. For every $2.00 awarded from KVTC, the applicant must have a $1.00 in matching in-kind or cash funds. You must show your matching funds in the proposed budget.
2. The applicant must meet the reporting requirements which include: quarterly reports; financial records which indicate how the funds were expended; a copy of the final product or summary of the project with supporting materials; and appropriate acknowledgement of the KVTC and the Maine Office of Tourism involvement in supporting the initiative.
3. The total amount available for each organization will not exceed $2,500.
4. The KVTC reserves the right to reject any and all submissions and/or applications.
5. Once the project has been completed the grantee must provide financial documentation and a project summary for the KVTC within 60 days.
Applications are due on or before 5:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2009 to the Kennebec Valley Tourism Council Grant Manager. Applications may be obtained by emailing tanya@kennebecvalley.org.
Riverfronts Receive Funding

AUGUSTA -- Riverfronts, parks and shorelines in 14 riverfront communities will benefit from nearly $5 million in new state bond investments, Gov. John Baldacci announced Thursday. The bond was approved in a statewide election in 2007 and distributed in the form of a grant to communities that submitted proposals to the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development.

A Region Wiith Art

The new highway service plaza in West Gardiner will regularly attract thousands of drivers traveling through central Maine.
But the owners of seven central Maine art galleries want to use the plaza to tell drivers why they should stick around and explore the area.
Seven art galleries stretching along the Kennebec River from Richmond to Augusta are teaming up to coordinate show openings, art classes and promotional efforts.
